The decision whether or not to start or expand a family should be made without shame, pressure, or punishment from politicians. Women need comprehensive reproductive health care, and that must include abortion access.
Ever since the landmark Roe v Wade decision, anti-abortion lawmakers in New Hampshire and across the country have attempted to pass restrictions on abortion access. These attempts seek to shame and stigmatize women for making decisions to control their own lives and futures, and disproportionately impact lower income women by continually pushing abortion and all forms of reproductive health care further out of reach.
Instead of limiting abortion access, our priority in New Hampshire should be to guarantee that all women have access to the full range of reproductive health options without stigma or shame. We are calling on our newly elected representatives to make it clear they will stand with women in our state by protecting and expanding access to reproductive rights for all women. We must take action now to ensure that women have equal rights and receive fair treatment on the job, in health care and in the new economy.
